Lynton is proud to announce a series of new training courses, developed in collaboration with the University of Manchester. These courses will be the first of their kind within the aesthetic laser industry, resulting in a certificate of attendance from an Institute of Higher Education.

The courses will be delivered primarily our team of friendly and experienced lecturers;

Dr Samantha Hills, Clinical Manager at Lynton, Dr Mark Dickinson, Senior Lecturer at the School of Physics and Astromony and Laser Protection Advisor at the University of Manchester, and Dr David Binks, also a Senior Lecturer in Laser Physics at the University. Guest speakers will be invited to cover specific topics in dermatology and plastic surgery. The courses are suitable for anyone operating any laser or Intense Pulsed Light system, or those who just want to extend their background knowledge in this growing field.

All courses are now approved by the Manchester University and the BMLA (British Medical Laser Association).

Core of Knowledge (1 day)

The Core of Knowledge is generally regarded as the minimum training requirement for those operating lasers and IPL systems. This one day course is based on the syllabus outlined by the MHRA, and covers all aspects of basic laser-safety, including;

- features of light from lasers and IPL

- the interactions of lasers and light sources with the skin and eyes

- equipment related hazards from laser/IPL sources

- safety procedures, policies and safety management

- introduction to risk assessment and minimizing risks

- legislation requirements

Skin-Laser Applications – Introduction (1 day)

This intensive one day course will give an overview of different skin-laser applications, including hair removal, vascular and pigmented lesion treatment, tattoo removal and skin rejuvenation. The latest technologies, such as fractional laser treatments will also be discussed. The course will cover;

- the properties of light and lasers

- basic skin properties

- skin-laser interactions using the Principle of Selective Photothermolysis

- client selection and contraindications to treatment

- skin reactions and possible side effects

Skin-Laser Applications – Advanced (3 day)

The three day Advanced Skin-Laser Application course will expand on the topics covered in the Introductory course. There will be more emphasis on laser safety and risk assessment, and on identification of different skin conditions and their suitability, or otherwise, for laser/IPL treatment.

To book on any of the above please contact Claire Goostrey on 01477 536 976.
